REPORT
Dr. N. Parameswaran Pillai (popularly known as Dr. N. P. Pillai) was the Director of the State Resource Centre (SRC), Kerala, which is attached to the Kerala Association for Non-Formal Education and Development (KANFED), a registered Non-Governmental Organization, during the period 1978-84. The SRC had published a good number of print materials (Primers, Hand-books, Work-books, Training Manuals etc.) for literacy classes at that time. Dr. N. P. Pillai, Dr. Sooranadu Kunjan Pillai, Dr. V. K. Sukumaran Nair, Mr. P. T. Bhaskara Panicker, Dr. N.V. Krishna Warrier, Mr. P.N. Panicker, Dr. K.Sivadasan Pillai etc., were the prominent personalities behind these publications. Dr. Pillai was the Course Director of JANVIDYA VISARATH (One Year Diploma in Non-formal Education), a Correspondence Course on NFE. Dr. Pillai's association with SRC was crucial for its all-round development.
A Seminar on Lifelong Education was organized in connection with the Centennial Celebration of Dr. N. P. Pillai, the Legend Teacher Educator, on 27th, August, 2011 at State Resource Centre (SRC) Kerala, Nandavanam Thiruvananthapuram. This was jointly convened by Dr. N. P. Pillai Centennial Celebration Committee, Dr. K. Sivadasan Pillai Foundation (SPFERD) in collaboration with State Resource Centre, the Council for Teacher Education (CTE), Mitraniketan and Indian Adult Education Association (IAEA), Kerala Chapter. The theme of the seminar was presented by Dr. A. Sukumaran Nair, Former Vice Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi University , Kottayam and former Faculty, Department of Education, University of Kerala
The Video CD of the inaugural function of the Centennial Celebration held on 26th of July, 2011 at the Govt. HSS, Eranial, Kanyakumari Dist, was released by Dr. Sukumaran Nair by giving it to Dr. C. P. Sreekantan Nair (Chairman, CTE, Kerala State Centre) at the meeting. The felicitation speeches were made by Dr. C. P.
