Excellency Aswathy Thirunal Gouri Lakshmy Bai, Kaudiar Palace, Thiruvananthapuram, has kindly
agreed to be the Chief Guest of the One Hunderdth Birth Anniversary Celebration
of Legend Teacher Educator Dr. N.P.Pillai, Former Professor and Head,
Department of Education, University of Kerala and Former UNESCO Expert at
Philippines University, Manila which is to be observed on 26th of July, 2012 at
Thiruvananthapuram. Dr. A. Sukumaran Nair, Former Vice Chancellor, Mahatma
Gandhi University, Kottayam will preside over the function.
Shri.
M. M. Jacob, Former Governor, Meghalaya will deliver the Commemoration Speech
on Dr. N. P. Pillai. Padmaree Dr. K. Viswanathan (Director, Mitraniketan),
Padmasree Dr. Vellayani Arjunan (Former Director, State Institute of
Encyclopaedic Publications, Govt. of Kerala), Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas (Bishop of Bathery, Wyanad), Dr. V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai (Executive Vice-Chairman, Council of Science,
Technology and Environment), Dr. A. Jayakrishnan (Vice-Chancellor, University of
Kerala), Dr. N. Radhakrishnan (Working President, Kerala Gandhi Smarak Nidhi), Mr. T. P. Madhavan, Cine Artiste, Dr. Ram
Nayar (Professor, Microbiology, USA), Dr. Aiyappan Nair (Emeritus Professor, Pennsylvania University, USA) are expected to participate in the
programme and speak on the occasion. A Souvenir depicting Dr. Pillai's
contributions in the field of education at international and national levels, besides
being an academician, researcher, peace educator, social worker etc. will also
be released. In the meeting Dr. Pillai's senior Doctoral Students will also be
honoured.
Along
with this Centennial Celebration a Seminar on 'Gandhian Principles and and
Practices for the emerging social scenario' will also be organized.
